About Mindy Lawrence

Mindy LawrenceRev. Mindy Lawrence, a native Houstonian, who has traveled around the globe in her quest to learn, prosper, and make a difference in the world.

You may be familiar with Rev. Lawrence’s work with Unity Church of Christianity-Houston as Associate Minister.
Or you might recognize her from her previous careers (as diverse as kindergarten teaching and managing a tree farm and cattle ranch) or her work as a substance abuse counselor, or her early years as a featured dancer in Houston dance companies.
Along the way, she’s raised four children. She, herself, grew up the eldest of 11 siblings, a position that acquainted her early with leadership skills.
Her education includes studies at the University of San Francisco, University of Houston and Unity Institute, as well as Conflict Management studies with the Lombard Institute.
Ordained in 1998, her first assignment took her halfway around the world to Pune, a city near Mumbai, India. There, she established a Unity ministry teaching Jesus’ truths and spiritual principles to a diverse congregation.
That ministry changed lives immeasurably as it rekindled hope for many people in the community.
Additionally, she founded a tutorial school that helped a tutorial school that helped young students explore new potential, some eventually leaving the slums and hutments of Pune for positions in nursing and other professions.
Since her return to West Houston in 2003, she has been Associate Minister of Unity Church–Houston where her major responsibility is managing more than 600 volunteers. In the international arena, she serves as co-chair of Worldwide Unity Movement Team, which links US-based churches with Unity ministries internationally.
